Artist Statement
I am fascinated by representations simultaneously charming and odd, recognizable yet inconceivable. My work explores paradox, inhabiting the spaces where categories dissolve and unfamiliar meanings emerge. Working primarily with classical subjects such as landscapes and still lifes, I often abstract forms to evoke the human figure or man’s impact on the organic world. Influenced by surrealism and dream psychology, I construct hybrid spaces that echo the unconscious and dualisms such as destruction and renewal. My recent work contemplates ecological concerns not through dread, but with wonder, resilience, and connection. I aim to offer stillness and ambiguity, alternate worlds that remind us of nature’s capacity to endure and adapt.
